lifestyle tirednessTiredness is becoming a serious problem all over the world. It seems that we are all just moving around this earth like sleep-deprived zombies. Well, for some of us, it is.

Poor diets, lack of sleep, too much screen time, not enough physical activity, and being stressed out are all lifestyle factors that can leave you feeling tired. Even carrying too much weight or not enough weight can cause tiredness. That is because your body has to work harder to perform simple tasks. If you’re underweight, your body doesn’t have enough muscle strength, which in turn contributes to tiredness. Based on these factors, then yes, it would seem that lifestyle would play a major role in your energy levels.

On the other hand, developing medical conditions can bog you down too. Thyroid problems, diabetes, food intolerances, sleep apnea, and other sleep conditions can all contribute to tiredness as well. But even some of these medical conditions can be impacted by lifestyle habits, so once again, it’s important that you adhere to a healthy lifestyle as much as possible if you want to feel less tired.

How can you feel less tired?

If you suspect that your tiredness is not medically related and comes down to your lifestyle, then there are things you can do in order to feel more energized.

First off, take a good look at your lifestyle: Are you getting enough hours of sleep? Do you drink too much alcohol? Are you eating healthy meals? Do you exercise regularly? Are you stressed? By asking yourself these questions, you can narrow in on where your changes need to take place.

More specific tips to feel energized include avoiding too much screen time prior to bed; winding down before bed with a book or a bath; avoiding alcohol before bed; ensure your bedroom is comfortable, cool, and dark; integrating regular exercise into your daily routine; finding natural and effective methods to reduce stress; meditating; eating more leafy greens and other health foods; avoiding processed and sugary foods; quitting smoking; designating rest days during the week; learning to say ‘no’ when you need to; and heading out to get fresh air throughout the day.

If these lifestyle factors don’t resolve your tiredness, you should see your doctor to determine whether or not a medical condition is responsible for leaving you tired.
