5 Common Foods That Worsen Joint Pain

Sugary and refined foods: High-sugar foods can lead to inflammation, which worsens joint pain.

Dairy products: A protein found in dairy products can trigger inflammation in the body. This protein can also irritate the joints and tissue.

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs): AGEs are a toxin that develops in food after it is heated, grilled, fried, or pasteurized. AGEs are known to damage proteins in the body, which can trigger joint pain.

Alcohol and tobacco: Although technically not foods, you still consume these. Both alcohol and smoking have been linked with many negative health outcomes and alcohol consumption can increase your risk of gout.

Reducing or avoiding consumption of these food items may help ease your joint pain along with following your advised treatment recommended by your doctor. You will also want to consume more anti-inflammatory foods to further reduce joint pain.
