Improve joint pain with these tips

joint-pain-remediesIf you’re battling joint pain, be it temporary or chronic, you know how much of a pain it can really be. Some days, it can get so bad that getting out of bed is a struggle, while on other occasions it seems to get progressively worse with each passing hour. Joint pain takes a toll on the overall quality of life, so if you don’t find a solution that works to relieve it, you could be living a life of pain.

For many patients who experience joint pain, it seems like it tends to worsen in the winter time, but research has recently come out to disprove that. The study looked at 1,000 volunteers with lower back pain and 350 volunteers with knee osteoarthritis. They then compared weather conditions at the time when the participants originally noticed pain to weather conditions one week and one month before the onset of the pain. No relationship was discovered between back pain or knee osteoarthritis pain and weather.

Even if the weather isn’t to be blamed for your worsening joint pain it doesn’t take away from the fact that you need an effective pain relief. If topical creams and over-the-counter pain relievers have let you down, why not try these natural remedies for joint pain instead?

Natural remedies to ease joint pain

    • Cut up a lemon into several slices. Place the slices in a cloth and tie it up. Dip the cloth into a bowl with warm water and place it on your aching joint. Let this stay on for about five minutes. Apply whenever joint pain flares up for quick relief.
    • Drink carrot juice each morning for at least a week to prevent future episodes of joint pain.
    • Massage olive oil on the affected joint for a week, once in the morning and again prior to bed.
    • Soak the affected area with Epsom salt for about 15 minutes.
  • Massage your affected joint with castor oil. You can do this once or twice a day for about a week.
  • Ensure you are eating a healthy diet with a variety of nutrients and vitamins that can work to reduce inflammation.
  • Exercise regularly (stretching is particularly important).
  • Take warm baths or showers or apply heat to the affected joint.
  • Maintain proper posture throughout the day. Check with your doctor if you need orthotics – if there is an issue with your feet, the rest of your body may be out of alignment, which can contribute to pain.

These tips can help you have greater success in reducing future episodes of joint pain or combating such pain on the spot.
