Toronto, Canada, June 17, 2016 – Bel Marra Health (www.BelMarraHealth.com), a company that offers high-quality, specially formulated vitamins and nutritional products, is weighing in on a study showing that increased saturated fat in a diet is associated with cancer.
A recent study conducted by the University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and other institutions showed a link between a diet heavy in saturated fats and a higher risk of prostate cancer. Foods such as cheese and fatty beef are examples of high saturated fat products. “The link between diet and cancer is one that researchers continue to pursue,” says Dr. Victor Marchione, spokesperson for Bel Marra Health. “What people put into their bodies plays such a pivotal role in how the body functions and how it effects the balance of their overall health. If it can be proven definitively that adding or removing certain foods from a diet will reduce the chances of getting cancer, then it’s a step that should definitely be taken.”
Over 1,800 men suffering from prostate cancer were used for the study and had their fat intake gauged and tested in relation to the aggressiveness of their cancer. Researchers have previously already proved that a diet high in saturated-fat increases the likelihood of cardiovascular disease, but this study shows that it also affects the aggressiveness of prostate cancer. Further study of the association will be needed, however, in order to reach an accurate conclusion.
“Researchers need to keep pushing and exploring the relationship between diet and disease,” Dr. Marchione concludes. “Not only does food have such an influence on our daily wellbeing, but it is also an inalienable part of our daily life. Knowing what to put into the body should really be a priority.”
