Top 3 Food Essentials You Wouldn...

It is common knowledge that you need to have a variety of foods in your diet in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Food experts tend towards diets that include a great deal of whole, raw foods, with special emphasis on fruits and vegetables. But aside from the obvious nutrient rich diet of fruits and vegetables, there is a whole host of other foods than shouldn’t be ignored. In particular there’s three foods that experts say you should make sure you have on hand to incorporate into your daily diet – and you wouldn’t expect them.

Fruits and Vegetables are Important – But There is Other Diet Friendly Foods, Too!

Coconut Oil

Now, this is fattening, but healthy fats are absolutely essential in our diets.  Coconut oil is one of those foods that have so many benefits for skin and hair, and some research has shown that it has weight loss benefits as well. So while fattening, it is a healthy kind of fat, that provides health benefits. Keep some on hand when cooking at high heat, it’s much better for you to cook with than other types of oils.

Sprouted Grain Bread

Bread is so heavily avoided in the North American diet, however, we can’t forget that not ALL bread needs to be avoided. There are some kinds that are good for you. Sprouted grain bread is considered to be much better than regular breads. And especially the ones of the white variety. Anything with whole grains that can add in natural forms of fiber is considered to be a much better option than the usual breads that have gone through the “enriching” process. Enriched whole grain bread is much different from sprouted grain bread too, with sprouted grain bread having much more nutritional value.

Peppermint Tea

Peppermint tea is calming and refreshing at the same time. Likely one of the biggest benefits is that you can drink it either day or night, as it is naturally decaffeinated. Many health experts say that health benefits of peppermint tea are vast. Some swear by the effects of peppermint tea to reduce symptoms of heartburn, improve digestion, fight stress and anxiety and even reduce the signs and symptoms of a cold.

These three food essentials might be in your kitchen now, but if they aren’t, they should be. Many nutritional experts have similar opinions when it comes to their diet versatility. And if there is symptomatic relief from common ailments to be found in any of the foods in your diet, you should pay attention because feeling your best is important.
