For many, there could be a fine line between delicacy and dangerous. For many people, as they take the time to travel the world and experience new diets and cuisine, the last thing on their minds is the dangerous foods they could be consuming, or the fact that these foods could kill them. But maybe a little education and awareness could go a long way when it comes to making sure the next time you try out a new meal in a new place, you don’t end up in the emergency room, or worse! Your good health is important.

There are certain dangerous foods that could be targeting your good health

Crab

It might not exactly be heard of often, but cholera can cause some serious intestinal upset and dehydration. And experts say that in the 90’s a small group of travelers picked it up from crab bought and cooked in Latin America. However, while it may be somewhat rare, it is still possible to get cholera from shrimp, clams, mussels, and oysters that haven’t been properly cooked and prepared. One way to avoid the potential dangers associated with crab, or other seafood in general is to make sure it is well cleaned, boiled and cooked at all times.

Bullfrog

You might have wondered (or maybe not…) why people so enjoy frog’s legs. However, there is a very good reason why the legs are considered the most popular appendage’s of the frog. Maybe this isn’t surprising, but the rest of the frog is absolutely covered with toxins and bacteria. There are certain cultures that consider the frog (the entire frog) to be a delicacy, but experts advise that you heavily avoid eating any part of the frog except for well prepared and cleaned legs.

Cold Cuts

This can include, but certainly isn’t limited to hot dogs, sandwich meats, and bacon. The problem that lies within a specific item on the ingredient list. Sodium nitrite is found in a wide array of processed meats and there are many healthcare practitioners that have made some parallels between the chemical (which is used to fix the color of the processed meat) and cancer.

While experts and healthcare practitioners will always recommend the proper preparation of fresh food and ingredients for optimal good health, there are a few foods that you need to pay special attention to. You should enjoy your food, and take the appropriate measures to ensure that you don’t get ill through a little extra awareness and preparation.
