Tips to serve healthier Halloween treatsTis the seasons once again when children will come knocking on your door, shouting the phrase, “Trick or treat!”

It may seem harder and harder to pick proper treats for children nowadays, especially because so many children and adults are gluten-intolerant, peanut-free or, heck, even vegan.

You want to make sure that whatever child comes to your doorstep will be able to enjoy the treat you have for them.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have compiled a list of helpful tips to help you serve up healthier Halloween treats that won’t have children returning later to throw eggs at your house.

  • Try to find lower-calorie treats.
  • If you’re having a Halloween party, ensure there are fruits, vegetables and cheese served along with the treats.
  • Plan party games to ensure kids get exercise.
  • Walk door-to-door instead of driving the kids around.
  • Ensure walkways and steps are clear to prevent any injuries.
  • Keep jack-o-lanterns away from children and animals – also keep them away from curtains and household plants.
  • Pay attention and drive safely.
  • Wear reflective tape when walking around.

If you follow these tips you can have a safe and enjoyable Halloween!
