circulatory foodsWhen you have a strong heart, that means your body can receive oxygenated blood more efficiently. Oxygenated blood is like gasoline in a car – it fuels the entire body in the same way gasoline fuels a car.

There are many different factors which can weaken your circulatory system, such as being overweight, having a weak heart, lack of physical exercise, smoking, stress, lack of sleep, and a poor diet.

Some foods can help promote a strong heart, which will promote a stronger circulatory system as a whole.

Here are some of the best foods to eat in order to support a healthy circulatory system.

Nuts: Nuts are high in healthy fats, which support a healthy heart. The nutrients found in nuts also help relax blood vessels, which allows blood to flow through them much easier.

Tomatoes and watermelons: Antioxidants in tomatoes and watermelons – also found in other foods with red skin – has been found to improve circulation.

Salmon, avocado, flax seed: Similar to nuts, fatty foods like salmon, avocado, and flax seeds have heart-healthy fats and nutrients which stimulates blood flow.

Beets: Beets are high in nitrate, which naturally dilates blood vessels, allowing for blood to flow more freely.

Olives: Vitamins in olives also dilate blood vessels. Other foods with the same effect include sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and dark leafy greens.

Spices: Garlic, ginger, and cayenne pepper are known to increase blood circulation.
