sex memoryThere is a very enjoyable way that you can start improving your memory, according to the latest research findings. If you’re over the age of 50 and are sexually active, you most likely have better memory than someone who is not sexually active.

The study was conducted on 6,016 individuals who were all over the age of 50. The data was collected between 2012 and 2014 where the men and women were questioned about their lifestyles, including their sexual activity. The participants also completed episodic memory tests to compare results.

Across all participants, there was some degree of memory loss, but those who were more sexually active and intimate had better memory test scores.

The study concluded, “These findings build on experimental research that has found sexual activity enhances episodic memory in non-human animals. Further research using longer time frames and alternative measures of cognitive decline is recommended.”

Previous research revealed that women who were more sexually active had better memories. That study found a link between sexual activity and a larger hippocampus, which is the area of the brain responsible for memory.

Having more sex is a pretty simple and harmless way to improve your memory. Furthermore, sex is known to offer other health benefits like improving sleep, reducing stress and blood pressure, and even being a form of exercise! With all these benefits, why wouldn’t you engage in more sex?
