Halloween safety tips

Halloween safety tipsBelieve it or not, Halloween is just around the corner, so it’s important to gear up with some safety tips early on for a worry-free festive time with your youngsters.

Halloween is an enjoyable time for children to go door to door collecting treats, but it can become dangerous quite easily if they are not cautious.

For starters, apply reflective stickers on your children’s costumes to make them visible for passing cars. Face-painting is more preferable than a full-face mask as the latter can block their vision.

Costumes should fit your children properly to ensure they don’t trip on extra material that may be dragging. Avoid the use of electronic devices, and ensure your children are looking straight ahead and both ways when crossing streets.
Children should use designated crosswalks when crossing the street and ideally should follow direct routes to avoid numerous street crossings.

Children under the age of 12 should always be under adult supervision and stay in well-lit areas.

Parents should inspect candy at home and discard any pieces that may be opened or unwrapped.

With these simple safety tips, both you and your children can enjoy the spooky time of year without any harm.
