Tongue Color Can Predict Your Health

treatmentIt might not necessarily a traditional way to predict your health, but there research is now showing that in terms of preventative and treatment options, it could have some serious validity. The state and color of your tongue is now being said that it could give you a pretty good indicator of what’s going on inside your body, and even provide an accurate picture of future health.

While some healthcare practitioners might be skeptical, there are alternative therapies that lend credence to the idea (such as naturopaths, and certain areas of Chinese Medicine).

As a general rule, the tongue of a healthy person has a pink hue and has a light coating. As soon as your tongue changes color or texture, it could be due to a range of issues.

It Shouldn’t Be Your Only Plan of Attack for Treatment – But as a Preventative It Could Help

Below is an idea of what the tongue says about your health.

If Your Tongue is Pale:

Many naturopaths will say that a tongue that has a pale color could mean that your blood is lacking in hemoglobin, which is  the iron-containing protein found in red blood cells. This color of tongue could lead to feelings of being overtired, or lethargic..

If Your Tongue is Bright Red:

Experts indicate that a tongue that is bright and reddish in color can indicate you are lacking in certain nutrients. One of the main culprits could be a lack of iron, which is essential for the formation of red blood cells.

If Your Tongue is Purple:

There is some research that supports that a tongue purple in color could be the sign of high cholesterol. Some naturopaths claim that a purple tongue can indicate bronchitis which cuts down on how much oxygen gets into your lungs. When you notice this color of tongue, it is always wise to seek medical treatment as soon as possible.

While it could be a good starting point for treatment, or awareness that can act as a preventative, as with any assessment method, the color of your tongue won’t be used as the sole point of diagnosis, but it could help to give people an idea of the status of their health.
