A common misconception is that cellulite has everything to do with gaining weight, and while being bigger can make the cellulite stand out more, weight gain or being bigger has very little to do with cellulite in the first place. This is what makes it so stubborn, if not impossible to get rid of.

Cellulite is a layer of “insulation” that differs from body fat because of its tendency to deposit in unsightly areas such as the thighs, buttocks and abdomen. Cellulite is a collection of fat deposited under a layer of the skin that also contains connective tissue, so when fat and fluids also collect under it, the layer will become thicker which is what gives the “orange rind” appearance which can have an effect on youthful skin.

There are two main reasons why you might look in the mirror and see cellulite, no matter what the number on the scale says. Your genetics (whether your mother or grandmother has/had them) and the general “thickness” of your skin.

So unfortunately, changing up your diet, and working out like crazy, while it may diminish the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks, it might not take them away completely.
